Built by Students
Every Cowboy Rocketworks vehicle is the result of collaboration across specialized teams.
Cowboy Rocketworks is a high-power rocketry club at Oklahoma State University dedicated to giving students hands-on experience designing, manufacturing, testing, and launching advanced rockets. From propulsion and composites to avionics and flight analysis, our members take engineering beyond the classroom and put it to the test.
Through ambitious rocket projects and national competitions, Cowboy Rocketworks brings together students from a variety of disciplines with one goal: build something extraordinary and send it higher.
Put classroom knowledge into hands-on action by designing, building, testing, and launching real high-power rockets.
Develop valuable experience in engineering, manufacturing, avionics, composites, design, teamwork, and problem-solving.
Join a community of driven OSU students, make lasting connections, and work together toward exciting launches and competitions.
Cowboy Rocketworks is a high-power rocketry club that participates in diverse competitions, research initiatives, personal growth programs, and community outreach events. Our mission is to equip students of all experience levels with the tools and opportunities to build and launch high-power rockets. We aim to foster confidence and leadership skills, allowing members to excel in their areas of interest while balancing their schedules. For those eager to explore beyond their primary focus, we offer the chance to learn new skills and take on leadership roles. Although our club mainly consists of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering students, we warmly welcome members from all majors to step into the Rocket Room and experience rocketry, regardless of their background. We are dedicated to making our club accessible to everyone by addressing financial concerns, flexible scheduling, and transportation to distant launches.

High-Power Rocketry at Oklahoma State
Cowboy Rocketworks gives OSU students the opportunity to work on real-world aerospace projects from initial concepts to launch day.
Every rocket presents a new engineering challenge. Our members collaborate to design airframes, develop propulsion systems, manufacture composite components, integrate avionics, analyze flight performance, and engineer reliable recovery systems.
The result is more than a rocket. It's practical experience in aerospace engineering, manufacturing, testing, project management, teamwork, and problem solving that prepares our members for careers in engineering and the aerospace industry.
From Stillwater to the Launch Pad
Our rockets begin as ideas, calculations, CAD models, and simulations. Over months of development, those ideas become flight-ready vehicles capable of traveling thousands of feet into the sky.
Cowboy Rocketworks participates in high-power rocketry competitions and launches that challenge our members to meet demanding technical requirements while pushing the performance of each new vehicle.
Competition gives our team the opportunity to put months of engineering work to the ultimate test.
One team. One rocket. One launch.

Apply classroom knowledge to real high-power rocketry projects through hands-on design, manufacturing, testing, and launches. Gain practical experience while helping turn ambitious engineering concepts into successful flights.
Develop valuable skills in engineering, manufacturing, avionics, composites, design, and collaborative project management. Build meaningful experience that can strengthen your résumé and prepare you for future careers.
Connect with motivated OSU students who share your passion for engineering, aerospace, innovation, and exploration. Build lasting friendships while working together toward competitions, launches, and exciting team goals.
Every Cowboy Rocketworks vehicle is the result of collaboration across specialized teams.
Developing, manufacturing, and testing the systems responsible for getting our rockets off the ground.
Building and integrating the electronics responsible for flight computers, data collection, tracking, deployment, and other critical flight systems.
Reaching out and sharing our work with the OSU community, sponsors, prospective members, and the next generation of engineers.
You don't need years of rocketry experience to become part of Cowboy Rocketworks.
Our organization gives students the opportunity to learn alongside experienced members while contributing to challenging, hands-on projects. Whether you're interested in aerospace, mechanical engineering, electrical systems, manufacturing, programming, composites, photography, graphic design, business, or something entirely different, there's a place to contribute.
Members gain experience that can't always be replicated in a classroom: solving unexpected problems, working within real design constraints, meeting deadlines, collaborating across disciplines, and watching something they helped build leave the launch rail.
Cowboy Rocketworks is always looking for students who want to learn, build, test, compete, and push themselves beyond the classroom.
You don't have to know everything about rockets before joining. That's what we're here to learn.
